    Anyone know SurfCity firearms?

Saw a posting for them in the yellow pages and have had no luck finding a number that wasn't a fax or disconnected. Found an address in Garden Grove that seems like a private residence. Seems a bit shady. Anybody ever do business with these folks?

    They are not shady.

He sells high end Colt 1911's (old ones), older european guns and WWII rifles.

    Pretty much everything is expensive.

His add runs in Shotgun News and Gun Digest on occassion.

Do not go knocking on his door, it's a private residence and guns are not stored onsite.

You can learn plenty about this wonderful outfit by reading posts over at 1911 Forums, and at jouster.com forums. Just search for "surf city" and "david buehn".

Sssshhh! I din't think anyone here knew him.

One of my buddies was his competion in the 80's. There was another guy up near lake arrowhead as well. They all know there stuff

Hanging around people like that teaches you what too look for, specially when it comes to Colts and roll marks. And how to make 28 gauge M12 Winchesters as well.

Though not everything he sells is a forgery, I know where he buys a fair amount of his guns, and at a good price.

Also do the same search at m1911.org.

The "shop" was in Huntington Beach a year or so ago - but no one was ever there. He is very pleasant on the phone.

I think then his phone number is listed wrong. I've called the listed one in the phone book and online(they are the same) and all I get is a fax line.

Edit: And thanks for the info
