    Acquiring FFL in Ca?

    Hey everyone,
so i searched around and i cant really seem to get a clear answer. google just gave me a bunch of ads. Basically, my father wants to get a FFL if possible. im doing the legwork....because that would just be all too convenient. I know some of you have them, so what exactly is required. even pointing me to some good references would be of great help. He doesnt want to open a shop or anything (though he does have a business license) maybe just do it for family/friends and locals. thanks in advance everyone,

    -Sam

IIRC, ATF only issues FFL's to those with actual storefronts.

This question has been asked and answered time and again. Here are two recent threads on the issue:

        Appreciate the help!
        So it looks like:
        local business license (check X)
retail license (with ok the sell firearms?)
        City approval (zoning)
        ATF FFL

this is what i saw in common between the two links provided, am i missing anything? Im not too worried about my father understanding the legal details of paperwork, as he is a criminal lawyer, but i am trying to see what paper work needs to be filed/filled out by him. i understand it will take time between approvals of various steps, i just want to have everything accounted for before i present it to him (at least an outline of steps)

By the way, he would be applying for an '01 FFL if that makes any difference.

          thanks, again!

            just got my packet

oh kriminy!! you cant get an 01 w/out a business license and a storefront???

i was just about to ask about the fingerprints. who has to take the fingerprints or can u do them yourself?

can u just be an FFL01 who deals with transfers? do u still need a storefront or can u do it @ ur residence? or is this a no-no?!?!?

YOu have to use your 01FFL for business purposes, so you must comply with all the business requirements in your area. IIRC, if you live in an area that allows home-businesses to sell firearms, then you could have a home business FFL. If your area does not allow for firearms home-businesses, then you can't get an FFL.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

you go to the city/county business licensing department and ask.
