    desantis holsters

Hey guys... I was looking at Desantis holsters for my Sig 226 and 1911... Mostly looking at the IWB ones. Anyone have any experience with these? Thanks

I am a holster snob so take what I say with a grain of salt.

I don't have a desanti holster for the models listed but have owned several desanti nemesis holsters over the past 6 years for my various pocket guns (keltec's, colt mustangs). Decent holster but for a full sized gun I don't know.

Take some advice from someone who knows that investing in a cheap holster is a waste of money. Better to invest in a quality leather holster like Milt Sparks VersaMax II, Lou Alessi or one of the other top makers. For kydex buy a CTAC.

Sure you can use a cheap holster but why spend a lot of money on a handgun and then carry it in a cheap holster? Desantis will run you what $60? Heck for another $40 you can buy a custom holster from a top maker and it will be more comfortable to carry and will last a long time.

I have VMII's for all of my carry pieces IWB and Alessi CQCS for OWB. They are all excellent holsters and will give you years of comfy carry. I have pics of my holster on this forum if you want to see what they look like. Sure you can wait the 26 weeks to get a custom from the maker or you can pay $20 more and buy one from lightening arms and have it the next day.

Take my advice and do not skimp on your holster as it is just as important as the gun you plan to put it in. Now if you only plan to carry it once in a bluemoon then by all means feel free to buy a lesser brand.
