    Interesting info on Canik guns

I stumbled across a website www.USA-Gun-Shop.com which wrote this about the Canik:

The Canik TP-9 SFX, though, is a different animal. It’s a competitive target shooters 9mm and that means it’s perfectly equipped for home defense. This is the best of Canik and CZ, which are technically both over here but CZ is the much more famous brand.

Canik is pretty much the in-house tuning arm for CZ, like AMG at Mercedes and the Motorsport Division at BMW. Canik’s top end guns pack a Hell of a lot of value into a competitive package.

Here is the link to the article:
We tested 13 of the best full size 9mm pistols from Walther, Glock, CZ, Springfield and more. See which full size 9mm handguns are worth buying for home defense, duty, and competition.

Wow, so the Czechs use the Turks to "tune" their CZ's up?

lol, yah, not buying that. I'm sure that CZ would have some entertaining language if you ask them about that one.

ETA: OK, read the article. That writer has some ....interesting..... ideas about firearms history.

"The CZ 75 B is a break from the striker-fired routine. This really is a stripped down and evolved 1911 with a proper hammer fired action and everything."
"Apart from that, though, it looks like CZ took a lot of design cues from Glock."

    Yeah.

    I'm pissed.
WTB: Rhodesian A5 FN 12G Shotgun...ah, never mind. Prices have become stupid...
WTB: FN FS2000..don't care anymore about this one either.

Canik has some very good guns and every bit as good as CZs. That TP-9 SFX is a better gun than any of CZ's plastic guns and far better ergo than any glock at the same price or less (in free states). Comparing apples to apples here.

I'll buy a TP-9 SFX the minute I find one. Hard find and expensive in Calif. It is a Much nicer gun than plastic CZs and certainly walks the dog on glocks and CZs in looks department!

Look up canik P100 and T120 (looks like a baby eagle), you will be surprised. I do not care if it is made in Turkey, Israel, or Czech. Your Mercedes Benz and a few other brands are made in Mexico.

Why does it matter who copied who?? We are not running the patent office here.

            To each their own.

But everyone is aware that the Caniks are actually a Mexican gun design, right?

Canik TP series is basically a walther P99/PPQ. They swap individual parts and i've interchanged the slides before. The trigger is unreal for an out of the box gun priced around 500.00

I had to reduce the beavertail for it not to bite into my hand but other than that its been an awesome gun to shoot. For me a distinct 12:00 hold on my SF especially out to 50 yards. And a threaded barrel can be had from Century Arms for 120.00.

Parts are starting to be more and more available but if you really want to see a sexy gun check out the Canik TP9 Combat....just a variation of the Elite in FDE but so much sexier.

The mossberg over unders are from turkey.

Should they break, it requires a miracle to 1) get a replacement part 2) get a smith to fix the part as they are not an ISO type of manufacturing plant.

Don’t know about the hand gun. Not sure why the AMG would cost 1/2 of a Mercedes Benz
Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT

There is nothing similar mechanically about Canik and CZ aside from the CZ 75 copies. There is no relationship between these two companies.

Derp a Doo to anyone who thinks CZ has a Kirkland brand gun maker. CZ USA imports Turkish shotguns but that's just an importer.

I have not seen that Mossberg but seen ATI over/under make in Turkey for 4 to 5 bills. Very nice shotguns and look beautiful.
How much does it cost to repair a $2K Browning or Ithaca double barrel at a gun smith? Probabely several hundred dollars if the smith wants to do you a favor.

If your Canik or ATI gun breaks after the warranty period, and that is an ifff, just buy a brand new one and keep the older one for spare parts.
