I use cooking oil to remove spray paint from my hands and arms. Might work on your plastic?

Thanks. Think I’ll start with the mildest stuff suggested and work my way up.

Goo gone, citistrip and graffiti remover all have worked for me on metal components. Haven’t tried any of the above on polymer.

In a class a shotgun that worked fine on day 1, stopped working day 2

The shotgun had a polymer follower that got sprayed with powder blaster - almost the exact formula of carb cleaner / brake cleaners

The follower got mushy and when compressed by 5 shells and the spring, the follower mushed and squished.

A Glock frame seems to be OK

Aftermarket polymer / plastic parts- without knowing they are safe to use with a chemical, I would not use the chemical
Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT
          (thanks to Jeff Cooper)

Nobody has mentioned the trick with brake cleaner yet...

You put the parts in a ziplock bag, spray in brake cleaner and close the bag to let the brake cleaner work without drying up.
The paint literally wipes off with a rag.
            No scraping required.

That's exactly what I did when I needed to strip rattle-can paint off some AR lowers recently. After a couple hours in the brake cleaner, I just rinsed all the paint off in the sink, I didn't even need to wipe it with a rag.
Settle down, folks. The new "ghost gun" regulations probably don't do what you think they do.

Use light glass bead and be done with it.

I forgot to mention, I use Easy Off Oven cleaner in the yellow can....to remove painted on lettering on fiberglass boats.
Always a good idea to Test on a small area, might cut down on the elbow grease.

Works pretty good at removing graffiti on a cinder block wall too.
