    You are correct.
    That's why you only want to pull the trigger if you fear that you otherwise would die within seconds. It's the last resort. If you find yourself in such a situation, you won't worry about legal cost or a civil law suit. You just don't want to die!

    If you pull the trigger to save your life, you most likely won't be prosecuted for it. But just in case, most of us guys who carry have some sort of "insurance" which often is access to a legal defense fun.
