Outdoor Shooting Range Near La Jolla/San Diego area?

I will be down in La Jolla last week of November. I have a rifle I need to test out and want to bring it with me. Where can I shoot in the La Jolla/San Diego area?

    In La Jolla? Nowhere. Lol

Either out in the desert, South Bay Rod and Gun, Rainbow.

Poway has an indoor 100 yard range

I used to live in La Jolla so... If you're function testing (as opposed to sighting it in long range), an indoor 25-yard range will suffice. Discount Gun Mart has a very decent 25-yarder for rifles. Only about a 15 minute drive from La Jolla village to their Morena Blvd. location. They have very decent hours too.

Take I-5 South to exit at Tecalote / Sea World. Cross the overpass (east) to the next stoplight where you turn left (north). Follow about 1/2-mile to the entrance to their parking lot, across from the Circle K food mart.

For outdoor, not happening short of an hour drive. Pala Indian reservation to the north or Southbay to the south from La Jolla. Indoor 100-yard ranges at P2K and Poway Weapons & Gear. That's all of a 6-8 minute drive from me! PWG's facility is very nice. If shooting indoor, definitely double up your hearing protection.

If you go to P2K, they require a safety test be taken before you're allowed to shoot on any of the ranges. Also, not sure if they're still doing it, but to shoot on the 100 yd it requires a "qualification" sheet for your rifle/scope. Basically, they give you a sheet that you write in the rifle and scope model. Then take 3 shots at 25 yards that have to be within the circle. If you pass, you can shoot on the 100 yard range.

PW&G does not require any of this nonsense.

SBR&G will take you out to 300 yards.

Pala will get you out to 800+ yards.

            Perfect. Thanks!!!

I need to zero a new gun, the cobalt kinetics 27 and a new scope for my SCAR17S. I definitely want to see how the new scope does at distance.

Leave the rifle at home and enjoy the food.
Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.
I really miss the good old Pomona Gun Shows.

Yes, P2K still requires both of these.

South bay is a pretty nice outdoor club with 6 ranges (range #4 under construction). Range #6 is the long rifle range with 50, 100, 200 & 300 yd targets.

Pala is going to be your best bet.

Say howdy to Howard while you're there.
                      Yeah.

                      I'm pissed.
