    Electronic headphones/earmuffs... which ones?

I bought a pair, then they were immediately recalled.

Decided to ask you rather than trust the Amazon reviews this time.

    Which ones do you use?

There are a number of threads on Calguns. A search will give you a lot of information. Here's a current thread: http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s....php?t=1488507 Be sure to see the video I posted on the differences between different types of electronic muffs.

I have a pair of MSA Sardines which are excellent. (Darn spell check.)

I also have a pair of Peltor Tactical Sports which are excellent: https://www.amazon.com/Peltor-97451-...tor+electronic

I came close to buying some ProEars as well but opted for the Sardines. I'd like to try some someday and compare them to the Sardines. (I give up....)

And if you put these words in Google and search, you'll find a lot of information (and opinions).

I have a pair of Howard Leight Impact Sport electronic earmuffs. They cost about $50, they work great and I have used them for years without any issues at all. I would buy them again if I ever need a new pair.

When a shot occurs, do the Impact Sports completely cut out the sound amplification or just lower the sound level of the shot itself? As I recall, it's the former which can get really annoying if you're trying to hold a conversation.

If you want to bite the bullet so to speak and you shoot outdoors a lot...

Etymotic electronic earplugs or similar. Runs off rather cheap hearing aid batteries.
I got tired of muff head clamps especially in summer and fighting
to use them with hats and slipping eye protection under them which
is always a fight to keep a good seal.
I bought the Etymotics and it wasn't long both my friends did as well.
About 300 bucks, and you can put electronic muffs over them and
double up if you need to and they work together just fine.
Also they have two modes, the high mode you basically have enhanced
bionic hearing. Probably good for hunting.

honest question why go with muffs that only offer 20 nnm protection when ear plugs can offer up to 30 nnm protection?

Careful with the ratings - attenuation is a distribution over frequencies, not a single number. Using a single number is simplification that can be quite misleading.

MSA "Sardines" here. The cheap Howard Leights felt terrible on my head fwiw.

I like the Howard Leight Impact Pros. Been very pleased with them. Just ordered a set of gel ear cups for them. They were not uncomfortable, but hey, gel!!!

I wear these for shooting. I like them best because of Price ($50), and they're comfortable and not too tight on my head. The speaker and mic are fine as well. Sometimes I double up with earplugs with the volume turned up to the max and it's perfectly fine. Doesn't really get in the way when shooting long arms with a tight cheek weld

Harbor freight earmuffs are probably the best deal you can get on electronic earmuffs. I used them and they're great, however, don't just chuck them around cause the internals will break

The Howard Leight impact sport and Walker's game ear razor are nice but kind of a little too tight for me and over built for me for shooting. I prefer to use them when using impact tools.
