Well, your friend must be in California or another with mag limitations.
Those look like neutered versions (10round) same as what you get with CZs. Plastic lower half.

they look like they fit a XD9 service model

these must be a later model? they didnt usually make them like that

the older 10 rd mags had a full length stainless body, maybe they updated the CA mags to this version?

making them impossible to convert to higher capacity? the ones I got had a indentation on the mag body to prevent the follower from going past 10 rds

I’m still waiting for his reply, the weird thing is that the mag said a 10rnd, so there shouldn’t be a need for the block. I’m gonna wait till he brings one over and I’ll try it on my xdm

I have some XDMs and all the mags that came with them were all steel. They had to be blocked. These must be new updated mags for CA.

XD and XDM use the same mags. If it works in an xdm it will work in a xd model.

The XD9/40 magazines are not compatible with the XDM9/40 and vice versa.
^The external dimensions are different, which is why the magazines will not fully insert/lock.

The XD45 magazines are compatible with the XDM45 and vice versa.
              ^They are the same magazines.

The old ones were impossible to convert as well.
They had a crease down the side of the body that matched a "divot" in the follower, effectively making them single-stack mags.
I've got some Beretta 92 mags that are the same way, and I think a couple that have plastic bottom halves (if I still have them)

Looks like maybe they decided to use the same mag bodies for all 10rd applications, and go to a different "floorplate" depending on whether it's for a service model, compact, or subcompact.

                  What?

I think we should be able to use any mag we want, but just promise to only load 10 rounds per load. Trust me?

Well, that’s good info to know, I had never seen XD magazines like that before.
