So I was watching the local news last night....

... which is always a mistake.

So they were having a discussion on the "parental notification" proposition comming up in the next election.

(First not trying to start an abortion discussion, and it is gun related)

    Everything below is paraphrased.

The opponents argue that such a law would endanger teenage girls who live in abusive homes.

Proponents counter that the prop. has a provision where the girl could go to court to get an exemption.

Opponent counters with "do you really expect a terrifed, vulnerable girl to find her way to a court house, go through a metal detector, past a baliff with a GUN ON HIS BELT to get before a judge?" (oh and he really emphasized the gun part)
I about choked on my oreos when I heard that. What the heck does that have to do with anything... Now, I could probably understand if they countered that most 14 yr old pregnant girls would be ignorant of exemption process. Going through airport security is about the same as what this guy described and last time I checked that hasn't stopped too many young girls from flying????

I'm going to have to move my TV infront of the fireplace. One of these days, I'm going to need a good backstop behind it

Maybe because they assume that because they are intimidated, terrified, and threatened by the mere presence of an inanimate firearm, everyone else must be too.

TV News is ridiculous (and dangerously close to a misnomer). I laugh at the absurdity everytime the camera slowly pans over store wall lined with automatic weapons and and evil black guns whenever they're talking about anything that has to do with guns. Propaganda/Brain-Washing/Conditioning vs Blatant Ignorance/Editorializing/Spin. They report. You decide.

Bah, going through the new-improved fascist security at the airport is 100x worse. Last time I went into a courthouse, I just had to empty my pockets and walk through a metal detector.

That necesarily isn't a bad thing. Hell you might not have to even fire a shot if everyones so scared crapless of guns.
