Interesting video about handguns and lube

I came across this youtube channel and have been watching it in the last few months. He seems to have a great wide range of knowledge about everything shooting sports. Then I came across this very interesting video that gun doesn't really need lube. It has me scratching my head about what I have been learning and reading so far about lubricating my guns. Modern handguns only need lubrication if you want them to last their rated lifetime. They will last 1/10th of their rated lifetime if they are always shot when dry. Older pistols won't even shoot when dry, so maybe that is what the author means? I didn't watch the half hour video...

The rated lifetime of a modern pistol frame and slide is usually ~100k-ish rounds, with potentially multiple barrel changes during that lifetime.

I’ll trust the individual gun manufactures that tell us to use lube, vs some YouTube channel that may give a countering opinion.
