Hopefully no one else makes the mistake I did, have their PayPal account frozen and taint their reputation on Calguns.
As many of us have experienced, various computer systems limit access to certain websites like Calguns.net. Depending on how well the filtering is done, it could be overcome by simply using a secured socket log-in of https://www.calguns.net. Defeating other systems requires a little more effort such as using anonymous hosts. But there is something to be watched out for.
As I have come to find out, PayPal checks the IP address used to log-in and entering using an anonymous host sets off internal flags. A first I assumed that my account had been "limited" because of a purchase from another Calgun member (PayPal is anti-gun after all), but that was not the case at all.
The next day, I received an email from PayPal stating that my account might have been compromised and that I needed to log-in to fix it. The funds in my account were frozen and sellers were sent an email advising not to ship anything (very embarrassing considering one was a first time purchase on Calguns). It is going to take a few days to clear up, but it leaves me wondering whether sending money orders might be a better method of making future purchases.
