Does the space savings of a side folder outweight longer reloading times, or is it not worth it? I'm leaning on the "not worth it" side, but figured someone may have some experience using this configuration
California legal length has to be 30 inches plus.
Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.
I really miss the good old Pomona Gun Shows.

car carry not worth it. i like my fixed stock selectfire ak wedged between the center console and passenger seat when im riding around in the desert. the stock helps keep it in place.

i do not hike around with a long gun so no help there. would not want all that weight if i did hike.

There is no space saving benefit, since the overall length needs to be 30" or greater.

And the minimum 30" overall length is measured with the stock folded/collapsed.

Per CA case laws... [People v Rooney, People v Stinson]
Overall length is measured with the firearm in the shortest possible firing configuration (stock folded/collapsed) and is measured in a straight line from the tip of the muzzle to the rear of the firearm.

First thing I did when I got my WASR-10 was swap out the crap wood for a nice laminated set of furniture. No regrets at all.
