    2018 PPT Procedures

Hey Calgunners. I've been out of the buying/selling scene for a while and was wondering if anything had changed for PPT transactions. Can anyone give me a quick rundown of the current procedures? I'll list what I remember so please correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks!
    • Seller: 1 form of ID needed (e.g. CA driver's license). Does address on DL need to be current? Otherwise you'll need a second ID like car registration, utility bill, lease agreement, etc?
    • Buyer: 2 forms for ID needed and Firearms Safety Certificate. At least one ID must prove current resident address.
    • Either buyer or seller pays $35 PPT fee.

If the PPT is for a handgun, buyer needs
    - proof of age and identity
    - proof of residence in CA
    NOT 2 forms of ID.

Some FFLs demand the proof of residence for all transfers, but it is not required by law for long guns.

Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!
