    Los Altos range today.

Ahh the smell of gunpowder. I spent my day shooting at the Los Altos Rod and Gun Club. I got there at about 10am to find a beautiful overcast condition.

I started off at the handgun range making holes in paper (yawn). After about an hour we moved down to the 100 yard tin can range. Ahh yes, the smell of milsurp ammo filling my nostrils with pure delight. I setup about 15 12oz cans and one 4lb coffee can and so began the pounding. Funny, before the whole off list thing nobody really looked at me much but now with my rifles laying out and me legal full capacity mags laying there loaded, I get allot of guys double taking.

I start with my carbine with it's new removable carry handle to see if it's on target. The mist being so think I could hardly tell. Then I moved to my DCM setup rifle and oh man those cans were scared. Nothing quite like sending a can into orbit and then stopping it with a second shot. I didn't bother taking my AR10 because it will only run if Bill is supposed to be there, but I did bring my Yugo SKS. Funny I never noticed it shoots a little high before.

I even managed to shoot a couple of customers guns that I'm working on.

Man I feel better today. Therapy is good

Hmm, I might have to try them out. I keep forgetting I want to hit the tin can range.

Do I need to bring my own "tin cans"? IIRC, they allow 1 gallon water containers, right? Rapid fire? And do they "magnet test" your ammo?

Bring our own targets and clean your own mess.

      No magnet test

Rapid fire is only allowed with 22lr on the 40 yard tin can range.

One gallon jugs are cool and they have water for them on site.

I shot about a hundred bucks worth of radway green today. I'm going out in a minute to clean those two rifles.

I was on the other side of town, so to speak, at Metcalf. The JROTC group came by and I helped out on the 200 yard range, good group of kids, one has the potential for SDM if he decides to stick it out.

I got to take home a bunch of LC 5.56 and '06 brass as a perk.

Cool, I bring my own bucket to the range and collect all the brass from my shooting partners.

No such thing as too much brass.

Was at Los Altos today too from 1400 on. Never had shot trap before but we had a bachelor party that started out there. I can't think of many times that I have had as much fun as that. I think my next purchase will be an o/u

Sorry if this is an ignorant question, but will they let you pop tannerite there?

We were shooting gallon jugs of it at a range in Nevada and all the RSO's were saying "OMFG COOOOOOOLLL!!!"

I doubt they will let you. They don't allow 50bmg because of the noise.

I was asking if I could bring my cannon But I doubt I would get more than one shot off

Is tannerite even legal in CA? Seems like it'd be a DD. I mean, c'mon, if you put dry ice and water in a pop bottle it's a DD...

Thanks for the info, BigMac. I'll have to check it out when I get a chance.

It's legal. You just have to take it somewhere else.

I buy cases of it every year and may just take a case to panoche in two weeks

Do you think you could shoot tanerite on Arizona BLM land?
