    Target Masters (Milpitas)

I've been going to shoot at Reed's for the last 1-2 years ever since I took my first handgun class there.

However, Target Masters is a lot closer to home for me. That being said, I've read a lot of comments on CalGuns about the placing being unsafe, etc etc. The general vibe I've gotten is that it attracts the wrong crowd, newbies, getting swept my a muzzle is commonplace, etc.

How true is all that these days? When I go to the range I generally go as soon as they open in the morning (usually on a weekend). If I were to go on a weekday, it'd be around 4 pm or so. The way I see it, the riff-raff (if that is still going on these days at Target Masters) probably only comes out at night and if I stick to my usual hours I should be OK/safe.

    What do you all think?

I would just avoid Friday and weekend nights and any bays where shotguns are being used.

I live near it too. Got swept by gang banger...no more.

They get a VERY sketchy crew in there on weekends and near xmas...especially after. They will rent to basically anyone. The people, for the most part, tend to be in groups and younger...certainly not experienced from what I have seen. They tend to get distracted and show off from what I have witnessed.

Reeds, during the day is fairly good...less folks and they have way more staff there eye balling folks.

But...mistakes can happen. Shooting with crowds around is still an increased risk. I look everyone over in my area...If I think something is no good...I leave.

I was just there. Seems like a place where people take their dates and ghetto friends. I have not had a bad experience yet since ive only been there twice. I like to go late at night and hope its not that full. Shooting in public ranges is always risky but thats the only choice some of us have during the week.

Go before 4pm on the weekdays to avoid the crowds and to take advantage of their happy hour prices but the place is a dump compared to Reeds. You pay $9 for happy hr and $16 at Reeds/regular price. They do offer half off on gun rentals for the first 2 and third gun is free which I usually rent their most expensive gun.

Bottom line: lanes are not mainainted, poor air circulation, and everything is shot up to hell. Employees are clueless bordering on comical. Zero supervision also. I think lanes max out at 20 yards.

Like others have said, go during non rush hours and you should be fine. That's what I do. Like anything in life, there's a risk. It just depends on how much you can tolerate.

Livermore rod & gun club is great, and the rso's are on point. They run a tight ship, if you are good with that. I have yet to see any sagging draws ghetto trash hood rats there.

For what it's worth, PJ at Target Masters is a good, respectful guy...did several transactions with him.

I have been to TM a few times and never had any issues.
The staff has always been kind and helpful.

Even bought a gun there and the before and after transaction went smooth.
