What to do about all the gun nuts?

... and by gun nuts, I'm not not talking about us.

I'm talking about all the postal maniacs who of course insist on blowing their brains out after taking the lives of a dozen bystanders.

Now it seems like most people immediately begin to fear for their gun rights. Let's just assume right now that there will be more legislation in the near future. What kind of laws might actually make sense?

I for one think the background check that's already in place is great idea. I don't care for the 10-day waiting period, but I have no problem with undergoing the check if it means weeding out a few looney tunes.

But what else is there anyone can do? I'm happy I've armed my family in case the next Santa Claus killer decides to invade our next Christmas party but it's starting to look like the maniacs are everywhere (eg. McDonald's drive through shooting.)

And i dont think we can educate mentally deranged people. Im and avid christian and i go to a youth group and for some reason we get the darkest people ending up here. I mean the things some of these kids tell me they have committed/ Think daily of doing is just mind blowing.

IMHO.. better than than the alternative.. a lengthy trial, an insanity plea, a tremendous cost to care for this POS, on going suffering for the living victims. That was the best outcome for a sh**** event.

Oddly enough, CCW probably would have stopped the carnage in most of these situations, especially where they shoot up a large crowd of people. Percentage-wise, SOMEONE in the group would have been carrying.

A background check is useless because normal people can be driven to do crazy things, not just those who have mental issues to begin with. That's why you can't legislate it from that point of view and why so many of the people who are afraid of these sorts of crimes want to get rid of the option of getting guns rather than using more tests of sanity before a purchase.

I've been saying that for years, and I couldn't agree more.These are perfect examples for the need for of self protection. If just one person had been armed, the whole event may have turned out different.

Why does anyone need to wait for someone else to come along and save their life? How many of the victims were wishing they were armed as the event was going down, only to curse from having to hide in a closet, knowing they were defenseless.
