Unincorporated land around LA County to shoot guns

    Hi,

I'm looking for a place to shoot my AR and a friend's shotgun. I don't want to pay for a range, but just find a place where I can shoot without having to worry about the authorities. Near Los Angeles.

Level with me... is this possible?

What do you consider near LA?

I'm think BLM is your best bet but all regions have different rules. Find the BLM office for whatever area you're thinking about and call them or stop in.

Many regions have restrictions now because of "fire danger".

                Nope. Especially during fire season.
Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.
I really miss the good old Pomona Gun Shows.

I hear some go to Mojave....kinda far. Me, I would just pay the fee and go to Angeles or A place to shoot.

Gas cost more than the range fee. If you don’t want to deal with hassle from the authorities the best place to go is the range. Make sure all your stuff is kosher OP because I frequently get rolled on while shooting in legal areas.

This is why the gun owner community is one of the best out there.

An hour drive works. And I'm going with a friend so gas costs will be mitigated.

When does BLM consider the fire season "over"?

BLM considers the fire risks over when they then close the roads because they are too wet.

In a word, NO. You can not shoot on "unincorporated land" anywhere in LA county.

If you want to shoot your guns in the LA basin you must use a shooting range.

If you want to shoot in the National forests surrounding LA you must use their shooting ranges / designated target shooting areas.

You can legally shoot on BLM land, where safe and authorized, when there are no fire restrictions.

YOU always have to worry about the authorities...

So whats up with not being willing to use a shooting range? Something to hide? Depending on where you live and what day / time you are traveling each way, the gas cost to get out to BLM land where you are allowed to shoot will probably exceed the range costs at Burro Canyon or Lytle Creek

                            Haha close.

It's when fuel moisture is high enough to avoid fire danger.

There was a thread where members were thinking of collectively buying some land ....
