I prefer featureless because of the functionality, I use different featureless systems depending on which suits the intended purpose of the type of build. However if my goal was to create a military "replica" rifle that required a FVG and flashhider, then a maglock would be my only option.
That being said, the MK12 Mod1 minus a FVG is only a fixed stock and grip wrap away from being a featureless. Lots of folks don't even wrap their thumb around the grip when shooting from a bipod.
Just a couple of examples, look at these guys' shooting thumbs:

Go with a Juggernaut Hellfighter kit(or Kingpin) and throw out the mag block and install a Houge Freedom Fighter kit with it.
You keep features, can clear double feeds, and drop a mag with the bolt open if installed correctly.
This is the route I went with my ar pistol. It works great, almost feels like it's not neutered.Comment

We have both. The single mag-locked was built strictly as a range toy, and it's fine that way. It's locked using Mshill's method, and loaded using MA Loaders. It does seem to have more feeding issues, but I think the brass catcher that I use at the range is causing them.
Our featureless are more versatile, being used as range toys, hunting, and critter protection. As a rule they are reliable and very usable. The wife prefers these. We use Hammerheads and Thordson stocks.Last edited by kenl; 10-06-2018, 6:23 AM.sigpic

I've had zero luck with my hellfighter install. The rear pin just lets the detent pop out when you turn it. Anyone work on these in San Diego area? I wasted an entire day with this thing. Not happy.Go with a Juggernaut Hellfighter kit(or Kingpin) and throw out the mag block and install a Houge Freedom Fighter kit with it.

Will This work on a LWRC ? I thought I had heard Lwrc has proprietary parts and would not work on Lwrc ARsComment

Sorry you'll have to clarify your question.
Are you asking if a featureless set-up or a fixed mag system will work with LWRC? In general or for a specific model LWRC?Comment

I don't have any experience with maglocks. Surely someone that does will answer your question.
I think you misunderstood my post.
What I was expressing was that I prefer featureless because it preserves most of the actual functionality of an AR15, and that different featureless set-ups can be better suited to match different shooting disciplines.
Conversely, a mag lock system can be utilized to preserve a cosmetic goal, like when building an M4gery, but compromises the actual functionality.
That being said, featureless may be a better choice for the OP's MK12 Mod1 build, because shooting from a rest or bipod makes a grip wrap less intrusive. Also a replica MK12 Mod1 without a forward vertical grip only needs a fixed stock and a grip wrap to be CA compliant.Comment

Thats what i was thinking. Just wrap the grip and not put a forward pistol grip. I have an adapter for a magpul pistol grip that slides on and will not allow you to wrap your hand around it and also comes with a thumb rest which is nice. I already have a fixed stock and it will have a muzzle brake.Comment
