I would have thought UPS, FedEx, & USPS facilities would have better security than this. Especially when it involves transport of controlled items such as firearms. I wonder if they'll start installing vaults in response to this.

as for better security.... they do, if you pay for it.

due to our insurance for shipping jewelry, we use the upgraded secure shipping service within UPS called Parcel Pro. they have strict rules for packaging and all shipments can only ship by 2nd Day or Next Day Air.

And i'm going to guess that these guns were not shipped using that upgraded service, and were probably sent just ground on a regular commercial shipping account.

Manufacturers and dealers can ship via ground service. Not sure if UPS has a particular arrangements with such entities to ship guns by ground service since civilians have to use next day or 2nd day air.

Prolly an inside job on a large shipment going thru and the word got out to the wrong people.
I say that because the stuff does not sit in ups facilities more than a few hours (if that) before being routed and loaded up.

I recall a similar thing happened in much smaller scale in Riverside not too long ago. Not sure if it was UPS or FED-X.

this will only push the anti-gunners to claim that there needs to be federal gun control laws that are as strict as CA or NY or Chicago. cause they will claim

"See, guns come in from other parts of the nation where gun laws are lax so criminals will just buy/steal from there and drive it back to areas that have high gun control."


on the other hand, maybe footage of the U-haul truck was available and they just called up u-haul and asked who rented the truck and had them turn on the installed GPS. (cause only idiots would believe uhaul doesn't have hidden GPS on their trucks)
