Finally shot my hakim

What a neat rifle! A semi auto 8mm mauser is a complete blast to shoot. The recoil is so soft you could really shoot it all day.

Coffee cans at 100 yards are in order for this piece.. Lots and lots of cans

Holy cow it gets dirty fast though..

I cant wait till I get my SVT40. I bet thats going to be a real kick in the pants too.

I think I'll haul it back up to Los Altos this Sunday. I'm going to need another magazine and some more 8mm

Nice simple manual of arms for that one, too. No wonder the Egyptians got overrun by the Israelis. "Hmm, is it back, then forward then back again or the other way...?"

BigMac, I'd love to meet you at Los Altos with the other great 8mm semi. My FN-49, but unfortunately I have other obligations. Would love to see which shoots better.

Stillbigbac what kind of 8mm ammunition are you running through it, is that what gets it dirty fast?

I'd like to find one of these myself but they're hard to find around here, the only Hakim I've spotted is $500 at a local shop, that's just too pricey for one of these.

I have to agree with BigMac that it's a fun shooter. Someone let me shoot his a couple of years ago when I had no clue what it was - funny rifle with the bolt/bolt cover sliding back. Definitely less kick than the Mosin91/30 I was shooting at the time.

Didn't realize they were that expensive! Just glad I got my Garand from CMP.

I was shooting yugo 8mm. I decided to not take the Hakim today, just shotguns and 22's.

We ended up spending a lot of time at the shotgun range Then I blasted away with 22lr at the tin can range. I am looking forward to some more winter shooting. I miss going to panche..

What is the cleanest choice for ammo. I dont care if it's corrosive.

Hell yeh it has less kick than a 91/30.. it's like twice the rifle and the gas action turns it into a *****cat.
I bet the actual Egyption (sp?) soldier wasn't really thrilled with the idea of trying to invade Isreal. It definetly wasn't the guns fault This rifle is a direct copy of the swedish lungren 42. I would really love to shoot one of those. They are chambered in 6.5x55 and should be really sweet shooters.

I'd really like to get or make a gas adjusting tool too. Arghhhh why'd I shoot this rifle before I got a 1919??
