Start with the pictures showing their conditions, then tell the story!

    What was the 'cheapo safe'?

I don't understand. Is he being forced out for being an ammo-grabbing fascist or for being a failure as an ammo-grabbing fascist?

That's a great story. I'm glad that happened. Sometimes good things take a while.

Kind of a little off course here, but a good PSA.

Im moving to AZ. and had to move my gun safes out of my house. The large one was in a closet in a back bedroom.

It took 2 guys 1.5 hours and some special equipment to get my large safe out of the house.

        The safe weighs 1068 lbs.

A good heavy safe is a huge pain in the *** to move, therefore a big deterrent.

My house is also alarmed and occupied 99.9% of the time. It used to have a GSD sentry too. It will have one again.

The thieves would have to most likely work on the safe in place.

If your going to buy a safe, buy the biggest heaviest one that you can get in the house. You always outgrow them anyway.

Im not saying its a guarantee nothing will happen, but it sure is a helluva deterrent when nervous thieves know they have to hang around on site.

OP, glad you got your guns back.

Not just the DOJ database, it also goes into a Federal database.

I had two guns stolen in the late 1990's froma gun show, one was registered to me, the other to a friend. About 10 years later my friend gets a call from the FBI wanting to know if he wants the gun back. Apparentaly it had been used in several interstate bank roberies where the perp walked in, shot one round into the celing to get everyones attention. The gun was actually recovered a couple of years after stolen, however it wasn't untill after the trial and appeals that they would release the firearm. It took a couple months of back and forth phone calls, but an agent actually delivered it to my friends house, in a thick plastic bag, a giant zip tie through the action with a property tag on in. It was a Glock so it was fine condition wise. Mine, a Springfield 1911, has never turned up.

              three questions asked:

Condition: all but my cheapest heritage 22 cal came back in almost the same condition. I asked the Lady at Banning what my gun looked like and she stated it looked like new.

Indio, never get a gun stolen there. The did everything in their power to attempt to destroy my cheapest gun. Wanted me to pay for the DOJ in out of the stolen data back and me to pay to reenter it. I didn't Pay a dime!!!

Note as a victim you don't have to pay the DOJ form fee, in other words its free as long as you still can pass a background check. Not all LEO agency's know this. The perp pays this in the end!

Guns stolen and returned so far: Rugger stainless 22 s/a new with 22 mag and LR
Springfield XD 4" 40 cal with mags and holster
Springfield Mil spes 1911 45 (pending Banning police)
              Springfield 1911 45 black stainless
Heritage 22 (Indio) came back in poor condition

insurance, none for guns, but it did pay for my stolen ammo, holsters, mags, damaged gun safe.

I have 60 guns, that cheap safe was a Turners 99.00 vender key safe.

I now have bolted down super heavy duty 12 gun and one 14, and 16, these fit rifles and hand guns on top.

Guns still out: one more Springfield, 1911 loaded, one tokarev Ruger 357 4"

The perps left all the rifles, just took the handguns.

Very good! Glad things are finally getting righted.

I hope the last 2 show up sooner that later.

                  Thanks for the update.

Glad you got your firearms back. Im wondering how if you live in this fabulous safe San Bernardino city, you got ripped and the criminals only took handguns? Don’t your neighbors watch to see if there are strangers around? Is your place easily entered?

State Farm blows for other reasons. Add this one to the list. Yes, I had them and yes, they refused to cover what was in the policy.

State Farm’s additional gun policy max’s out at 5k. For some, that is basically worthless.

I question people who are badmouthing State Farm insurance over this. State Farm is one of the most reliable insurers on the market. Their standard H.O. policy covers "sporting equipment," not guns specifically. There is no separate "gun" policy at all. Default coverage is up to $500 or $2500 depending on the classification of the equipment and ammunition is not covered as it is a consumable/perishable item.

A sporting goods rider for your gun collection is easily purchased and covers 100% of your firearms purchases for ~ 1% value per annum. You have to provide the serial numbers on the policy of all the guns in your collection if applicable. If your agent did not spell this out to you, it's time to find a new agent.

I have the sporting goods policy on my collection with State Farm. You submit the make, model, serial number and the value. You have to double check the the info and make sure it’s right,I’ve caught mistakes on my statements.
