Using a BBAW before it is processed?

I'm sorry if this is a dupe but I've searched and found nothing.

I have some BBAW's waiting for the letter. I have stripped them down to bare receivers out of fear. They are not technically RAWs until they get that letter so I'd hate to get caught with one without the letter. Worse, if I get caught without the letter and then later the registration is invalidated, et cetera.

It's deer season. What's the legality of these weapons while they are in this interim status?

Can I use this BBAW without fear of prosecution considering the fact that it is not yet "registered"?

    **Edit**:
Furthermore, if the weapon is classified as a BBAW, then transport and other restrictions apply regardless of which features it has, so I can't just trow a featureless stock on there, swap out the BB and go.

It sounds like I need to know whether it's classified as an AW yet.

CFARS should show your application pending. Go have fun with your rifle.

Until you have the registration papers in hand, your guns are "unregistered assault weapons" so take them shooting at your own risk.

Bee baws mean nothing, that's over.

No paperwork? Same as every other gun, all laws apply.

Sooo what about in my home? Should I store it as a stripped lower?

no one knows the answer, but i doubt any DA is going to prosecute you because that is like slapping the DOJ's face.

You can simply separate the upper and lower, the lower by itself isn't an "assault weapon."

Everything I own is separated now. Upper and lower.
