Wilson, les Baer, Nighthawk , STI

I am interested in purchasing my first semi-custom 1911 / 9mm. I have been reading on the web on comparisons on all 4, I just wanted you guys opinions. I plan on using the gun for IDPA and steel challenge. I got to handle a STI edge, the grip was a bit wide and needed a shorter trigger. I have smaller hands. I also like the 4” barrels, I feel that the cycle time is shorter, so to acquire the next shot quicker. That being said, it limits me on the manufacturers. I am looking for options from competitors and owners.
I use a G34 and a CZ accu. Shadow for steel now.

I just broke my ankle and am really bored!

You list your location in the southbay...go to Reeds in Santa Clara...they have a good selection of higher end rentals...they might have a few of these to try out...

            Reeds

I definitely have to go there and test a few. When my surgery is done.

              Mr 1911

I have developed the 1911 syndrome. Must... have... another. I would suspect after your first semi custom another is not far behind.

So I have many wilson, 3 NHC, and Baers. The only noticeable differences is the LB is much tighter. It took many hundreds of rounds to break in. If I were blindolded and cycled each, I can pick out the feel of the Baer, but the WC and night birds feel so very close.

The thing to look for which features you like. Full size, commander, officer? Sights preference? Checkering feel? Grip looks? Color? Ambi safety? Magwell? Those features are what will lead you to chose the one that is right for you.

              Have fun shopping

I friend of mine also said LB, without hesitation, but I have read about some slides being looser than others. How do you check the slides for being loose? Slide locked back or slide forward?
