Looking for an honest small collection buyer in Nor Cal.

I have at least 25 pieces of modern-era firearms... handguns, rifles, and shotguns. Some on roster some not, some exotic, some run of the mill. All in very good/excellent condition, some fired, some not.

    Any referrals would be appreciated.

    Thank you

You mean an ffl or an individual? If the former then try Gun Vault in Mountain View or Imbert & Smithers in San Carlos

Wild Bills in Elk Grove claims to buy on the spot, but prices will be much lower than expected. Watch for cherry pickers.

        Thanks, Gents
I'm going to have to prep a list, as has been suggested.

Just know you will be paid a lot less by selling as a group to a middleman. If you have the time you will do much better by selling yourself.

Best of luck in whatever you decide.

I'll suggest that you post them in the marketplace here and then just state in your post that you'd like to sell them all as a group or your preference to find a buyer who will buy more than one or two at a time.

You could even use this thread to get approximate estimates of their current "California price" values, if you're unsure of them.

Agreed, you'll get much better prices selling things through the marketplace. I've dumped some quantity before and it's really not that big of a deal.

There are people, like me, who would buy the entire collection. We will pay more then a shop as we are not running a business. Keep most, sell the rest that dont fit needs.

If they are all a bunch of different caliber hunting rifles, thats a tough sale.

Definitely post a list. And, as mentioned above, your preference can be for people buying multiples.

Perhaps for the first month or so you could say you don't want to sell less than certain size group (5 or 10 for example). This will mitigate cherry pickers to some extent, and will also save you time. Obviously doing 25+ individual transfers is overly time-consuming.

Also, a person interested in buying a group is likely someone who has funds and is a collector himself.

Lastly, if you only want to sell as one batch, then stick to your guns and do that. Regardless, don't let people pressure you into doing lots of small/individual sales if you don't want to. A collection should sell en masse if the price is right.

Oh, and I wouldn't sell to a shop unless I were really under pressure and getting desperate. Prices are likely to be much lower. But, one thing you could do if you have a detailed list and photos is see if a shop or two will give you an offer. That way you have a number to assess other offers against.

No problem. Just ask all the questions you have to. Be prepared, know your options and get the most you can.

                          Best of luck.

if these are all registered to you then you have the issue of DROS in california and the added expense. From what i have read so far it sounds like it would be well worth your time to sell in smaller bulk caliber groupings and individual lists for one of a kind. I do black powder and have bought small collections before and it is a lot easier than modern era guns. just cash and go as opposed to all the government red tape in this state which is a lot worse than across the state line for cartridge guns. Good luck.
