Dirty Gun Sock

I've got a gun sock and it's dirty. I'm going to hand wash it in Woolite and hang dry. Can I turn it inside out and spray it with some silicone? Will that work? Or, if by washing it, will I mess something up? The manufactures always advertise their socks as been "specially" treated. I figure they just spray some silicone or water dispersing (WD-40) on it. Does anyone know?

I figure a gun sock is just a big stretchy poly/cotton sock and they (Remington) just sprayed some stuff on the inside.

thats just about SOP for sackups/gun socks turn it inside out after cleaning then spray it with some Silicone.

Use silicone NOT WD-40.
