how would you transport?

I have a service truck kind of like this What would you do as far as transporting a handgun for protection? all the compartments lock, would I need to purchase a seperate lock box for the handgun? The compartment I use the all the time is directly behind the drivers door, Has all my tools in it.

I have mine in a case like this:

You can either have a separate locked container in the cab or use any of the locking boxes built into the bed
If it were me I would keep a shotgun mounted on the inside of the box closest to your cab and a handgun in a locked gun rug or bag (one of the 3 dial combo locks) inside the cab

Thanks for the responces, I like the idea of the shotgun, but don't have enough room for it. I think i'll be storing my G19 in the tool compartment, maybe in its own box.

I'd put the shotgun behind the front seat, it doesn't need to be locked up. Handgun in a locked case in the cab.
