"Student Group has Positive Take on Guns"

This seems like a very good idea. At San Jose State University students there have formed a "Students for Firearm Safety" club on campus. Over 100 members and growing. They teach about gun safety, go shooting together, have a table up at campus events, etc. It's a non-partisan, non political group they maintain but their existence and actions are a political statement. They teach and promote gun safety and shooting. in doing so they counter fear mongering, ignorance, and the opinion that everyone who has a gun is a threat to public safety.

This kind of club can grow and spread and should.

This article is from page 1 the local section San Jose Mercury News of 9/10/18

    Pressreader is not user-friendly.

Anyway, I suppose that school club is better than nothing, but needs to grow a pair.

Firearm ownership is more than a sport and a hobby. And yes, we should be promoting a policy and shouldn't fear being affiliated with the NRA, who advocates safety.

Somebody starts something and a ball gets rolling. More doors are opened for discussion and debate. No chapter of the NRA exists at SJSU. These folks set up a club that encourages shooting and gun safety. It grows. I'm for both gun safety and shooting. Maybe we look at what it is...rather than what it's not. I can take it for what it is and see what happens.

Very cool! Nice to see anything firearm related expanding in our state. Seems like it is typically contracting, so this is great.

I really like this idea. Specifically because hostile political discussions alienate both sides. This has the potential to recreate a healthy culture of firearm savvy young people, whether they choose to own firearms or not. Increase knowledge, decrease fear.

Could probably set them up as a funded club at UC if you called them Karl Marx Schuetzen Verein.

We are working on securing club funding and insurance now.

This is very likely the first positive thing I've heard in Ca in yrs concerning 2A.

I'll take it as a win.
