Need some feedback...

I'm really warming up to red dot sites. I've decided to mount one on top of my flattop sporter but it's a toss up between a Aimpoint compML3 or the Eotech socom 553. Anyone have any experience/comments about these sights? Let me know.

I went with the Eotech because I didn't need anything extra to mount it and because my model takes AA batteries. Don't have any experience with the Aimpoint.

ETA: oh yeah, I believe that the Eotech is cheaper too... at least my model was.

You can leave that thing on for 5 years without turning it off on the same batteries. If your SHTF event turns into a 5 year battle your all good.

AIMPOINT are my sight of choice....

But EOTECH are popular cause of the price...the new 553 are slick...might have to keep one for myself.

Didn't you know that with a pistol grip you never have to reload. Duh

I have both and Ampoint ML and an Eotech 551. I prefer the Eotech, especially with the GG&G lever mount. I prefer the dot in ring reticle to just the dot. But just look through both and get the one that makes you happy.

eotech what my buddy in baghdad uses and says everyone where hes at swears by them. and they beat the crap out of them.

Eotech 553. Commonality of batteries. My Surefire lights and the sight all use the same battery. Less for me to carry and stock at home.

But the 553 is still pretty expensive. At least $150 more than the other Eotechs.

I love mine, though.

I have the Eotech 512 and like Ratters, prefer the ring reticle over just the dot. The 512 was cheaper than the Aimpoint as well.

I'd echo the "look through both and see which you like" recommendation from Ratters.
