I filled out the forms and did all the stuff they said to do, mailed them off on 5-22-2018. nothing. tried to call but just got an automated system that leads me no where. Any one else done this and , if so, how long did it take to get the info. back?
    thanks

It took right at 6 months back in January 2012 for me with a collection of 50 plus firearms, maybe taking a little longer now

Mine took so long I forgot that I asked for it. It was just over 7 months.

Wildly inaccurate. 8 pages long. I had 3 guns stolen years ago, police and insurance reports filed, still on the list. Several newer guns not on their list.

Their database is a waste of money.

What is the purpose to get these records? Don't you keep your FFL's gun transfer paper work?

Mine took just short of six months, just in the past year. To my shock it was 100% accurate, after almost 30 years of buying and selling.

Took me 7 months to get it. They have a huuuuuuuuge backlog of requests.

What about a FOIA request? Wouldn’t they have to respond within 10 days?

It made me laugh at their gross incompetency.

The FOIA does not apply to records maintained by the state of California. It only applies to records kept by federal agencies.

Dropped mine and my wife's in the mail 4/28/2018. Mine showed up on 9/1 and my wife's in 9/4.

Give it another 3 to 4 weeks.

California has a state equivalent to the federal Freedom of Information Act called the California Public Records Act (CPRA), found at Government Code section 6250 et seq. Firearms records are explicitly excluded from CPRA requests under Government Code section 6276.18.

You're quite correct (on both counts), but you've changed the subject. I was responding to LeadFarmer74's posting concerning the FOIA.

My records are more accurate than their records.
