If I were to sell ammo to another cal gunner, would I have to go through an FFL or is that not a thing yet? Thanks.

You would have to follow CA laws if the transaction occurs in CA.

You might want to read the CA Penal Code to learn the correct answer. I suggest starting with

PC 30312. (a) (1) Commencing January 1, 2018, the sale of ammunition by any party shall be conducted by or processed through...........
