I searched and searched but found nothing.

There was apparently a person with a self-inflicted gun shot today at Oak Tree. Is that an attempted suicide or some other stupid accident? Does anyone have any insight?

What happened to not being able to rent a gun unless you brought one in?

No one can predict what someone will do. There is no way to stop something like this. I do not believe in proof of safety courses before gun ownership or trying out a gun because it becomes another government regulation of my 2A rights. The range can stop renting guns if it chooses but will loose business if it does.
The range closes because police have rule out foul play.
