    multi tool for the range?

while i dial in new gear, i like to take my 'good' tools with me to the range. meaning i'll toss in my full allens set and real screwdrivers. but of course the last time i went to the range, i didn't take any tools and one of my ruger rotary mags jammed up with 7 rounds in it. i had to wait to get home to disassemble it and i'll test it next time out.

for the random things that pop up, is there a favorite multitool you take to the range? i'd prefer to keep my real tools in their proper place at home and have a small multi in my shooting/ammo bucket so i always have it with me when i go.

to complicate matters, i haven't figured out if gun stuff typically uses metric or sae allens. i had to use a set of metric allens to make a few adjustments, i think it was something on my tikka, so i can chalk that up to being a euro brand??? i guess.....

I keep a good set of Allen's. Metric and standard and torx head. I bought Bondhus sets in the plastic holder. I have learned cheap Allen's just make it worse. A couple of screwdrivers and pliers. If i need more than that, I grab another rifle. If both need work. I call it a day and go home.
    Fix the rifles at home.
Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.
I really miss the good old Pomona Gun Shows.
    I'm Back.

It varies on what gun(s) you are shooting.

Example: Glock=a pin punch to disassemble just in case.

AR and other guns=Sight tool, screw driver set, non marring hammer, allen wrenches.

Keep it all in a small tool box with cleaning supplies.

For my screw drivers/allen/torx/etc I use this..

Milwaukee Shockwave Impact Duty Driver Bit Set (44-Piece) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077857JSJ..._7JEHBbC5ECKK7

Along with the wheeler fat torque screw driver wrench.

I keep this in my range bag, along with an old Leatherman. The Leatherman came in real handy with a double feed on a Marlin 66. The screwdriver set has most every bit I've ever needed.

I have a set for general garage use, but I use a Brownells set for guns. The Wheeler set is definitely not as finely ground, and dimensions are kinda' sorta' close.

Brownells driver kits are made in the USA and carry a lifetime guarantee.

Buy once, cry a little and don't worry about a possible broken bit tip scratching the hell out of your gun.

It's a $10 set that sit's in my range bag for on the fly repair's. If I used them for anything other than a possible emergency repair at the range I'd worry about it a bit. The Grace, and Chapman set's are in the workshop, under lock and key so they don't get used for something other than gun work. If I lose the Wheeler's that I bought about 10 years ago it ain't no big deal. If I were to lose the other set's that would be a bigger replacement cost.

Allens, torx, and a leatherman. Unless all you are shooting is glocks then you need the glock tool.

You can get a set of 3 Allen keys at harbor freight for under $10
                          Under $5 on sale

                          Metric

At the range and nearly everywhere else I carry a Leatherman Titianium Charge with bits and an extension on my belt.

The last cruise I carried a Leatherman skeltool. The ships .secuity didn't let it onboard.
Too bad cause the toilet seat was loose and the pliers would have been handy.

Then again we need to consider what damage a trained professional taking a luxury cruise ship to Mexico could do with this type of multi tool !

Dont forget a GI Cleaning rod. It breaks down into 10" pieces and can be used to push out stuck cases.
