New Calguns Search and Notifications App (Android/iOS)

Good evening Gents,

I created US Gun Search www.usgs.io to allow for search-ability within the marketplace and to be the first to know when a firearm I had been looking for had been posted via a push notifications straight to my phone. Obviously, being from California, Calguns was my first stop.

I feel I've got USGS to a point where I would love to share it with all of you.

Anyone and I mean ANYONE is more than welcome to use try the beta out, its 100% free. If you feel like giving me some feedback on features you would like to see, that would be awesome. If not, then thats okay as well, and you can still enjoy all of the features. All I need is your email to send you an invite to the beta and you'll be up and running in no time.

MS-DOS wget script = text notifications to my phone for my marketplace search terms with a 3 second polling interval. For years now...

This is a nice alternative for non-programmers - just don’t count on beating me to the PM

Three seconds? At least my script only calls every few minutes to not fill up the session history and search query tables. And it makes sure to clear the session, too.

I guess I'll always be second in line for the cool toys.

I just pay my wife to stay home and take care of my 3 kids and constantly search the market place for my key words. Only time she doesn't is the 10 min to drop of the kids at school and 10 min to pick them up. And the hour it takes to cook my dinner.

This looks like a better option for her.

Curious what even you guys would like to see in something with a UI since you guys have a ton of experience. I have a new gallary view that I’m testing out right now and will be available for all the beta testers in a week. I’ll attach a quick picture below.

OP, does your app respect robots.txt or use authenticated logins?

I'd assume problems will start to follow you if you don't respect site-owner's wishes and are using automated search against their public data, without permission or C&D's if you are using authentication credentials that aren't yours.

Tread carefully, or there might be legal action in your future, especially if you tie advertising revenue to your app.
