I self registered a "home built" receiver on June 6. Today I get an email that my registration is "incomplete" because they wanted me to verify that it is indeed a "receiver only ". Of course it is, that's what I told them in the first place. So, I log on to cfars as prompted and replied as instructed and I get denied because its past July 1st. I have solid proof of June 6 registration and September 2016 as the "build date"/machining. Even though it wont be a build that would be considered an "assault weapon ". Also interesting, is that if it is "fully assembled ", which it isn't, they want me to provide caliber and barrel length! I sent an email. We'll see what happens. Am I missing something perhaps? Or is this par for the course?

Another CFARS issue

I can’t answer your specific question, but I can confirm that the CFARS system does seem to be set up to make it easy for people to fail. When I renewed my COE through CFARS, they sent me a letter in the mail a couple weeks later saying I failed to complete part of the renewal process. Really? Why not have a screen pop up that requires me to fill in the missing info before proceeding? Seems like they purposely sent it snail mail, hoping it would get lost or disregarded as junk mail and then my COE expires and they get one more scary collector of curio and relics off the streets. That will put a stop to all those mosin nagant drive bys!my Benitez goes to 11
