    Black powder question

I have been thinking of getting a blackpowder rifle and there is one on my local craigslist. The guy doesn't offer a price and I don't know what it is worth. Unfortunately there isn't too much info about it but I was hoping someone who knows could take a look and give me an idea what to offer for it.

    Thanks,

You'll need a lot more detail to put a price tag on that. Maker, model, year of manufacture. Could have been purchased new for $500-$1000 if it is a well-made fully functioning piece.

Based on what he's revealing in that ad, it's just a bill of sale.

Non-firing replicas that look similar go for $150 to $250 or so.

If the seller is clueless, advise him to go to a local dealer in antique firearms to find out what he has. Then Google becomes his friend.

      You want a flintlock?

The nice thing about blackpowder is that you can buy a new rifle online and have it shipped to your door. I'd recommend doing some research to narrow down exactly what you want to buy; there is no point in buying a random rifle off of craigslist. Take your time - after all blackpowder is pretty much the last thing that Obama will ban.

Good point. Especially considering I don't have an AR yet Maybe it is time to get a lower soon.

It's also a lefty flincher, so unless you are left handed, you will get a facefull of burning powder.

But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself...A murderer is less to fear. The traitor is the plague."......Cicero

From what I can tell from the photos

            It may be left handed
The trigger guard is typical of Southern mountain rifles aka Tennessee poorboys.
            The wood is VERY nice.
I have seen these go in very good condition for $700+
e-mail the seller and ask for details!!
