This picture pops up on a GSK forum. I enlarged it,but I am clueless as to what the heck it is. Look at that bore! Or is it a shroud? Some kind of trainer? Doctored photo?

It does look big. Is it fluted, making it look bigger?Sent from Free America -

Looks like a deep socket slipped over the barrel to make it look big bored, then they put a sight on it.Originally posted by tony270Originally posted by repubconservOriginally posted by el chivoXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOriginally posted by pjsig

Maybe a Wesson with a custom shroud? A .44 plus the black barrel lock might look like that, but I've never seen one like it.Comment

A Smith PPC custom revolver?Comment

I think you guys are right. Just a little before my time. I was still shooting airguns in the 70's.Comment

If you looks closely enough, you can see the barre inside with a much more reasonable sized bore

I'm going to guess it's a customized Smith K frame. The woman is Carol Daly who was a Sac County sheriff's deputy who worked the east area rapist case, which became the Golden State Killer case eventually. She retired in 2001 as the one of the under sheriff's I believe.Comment

^ Hahaaha HUTCH,
I was just thinking if she is still around today Big Pimping would be ready for her.
And I think it Maybe a type of concave barrel crown that used to be done on custom pistols back in the day.
Here's a link to a website that does a modification similar to that called an 11-degree crown....
I think the purpose like most barrel crowns is to protect the rifle threads right where it exits the barrel because messing those up can throw off the barrels accuracy.Last edited by sealocan; 08-05-2018, 4:52 PM.Comment

A sleeved barrel revolver. A '60s fad which never caught on for main stream?
