    According to the PO!

Well I guess you can steal and cash MO from the PO if they are under 500.00 without fear of reprecussions whatsoever.

We had one stolen and cashed in Utah. PO says they do not investigate theft under 500.00. What a crock of crap.

But are they going to refund your $500 loss?
It sounds like credit card theft/use they just write off the loss?
Did you talk to a postal worker or a post office inspector?

Not a single notation on usps or postal inspector site about amounts

I think you need to gather your paperwork and see the actual postmaster. Not the person behind the desk

I’ve never heard of the po investigating anything. Many people swear by the “safety” of a USPS MO but I’ve yeet to see where someone was prosecuted for theft.

I helped on a forged postal MO case where the perp got 6 years in federal prison. Made a 5.00 MO into a 500.00 one several times. The Postal Inspectors were not fooling around!

It's weird as I've heard stories from both extremes. One CGNer claimed postal inspectors went after someone for $7. I've also read where they said had to be in the many thousands before they take action.

I still prefer payments by US postal money order I figure not everyone willing to risk the wrath of the feds. Also you can cash the money order over the counter they can verify it as good right there in their system.

You are right, I had a pistol stolen between AZ and hi point in the east and they did NOTHING and I talked to postal inspectors, they told me to report it to ATF and LOCAL police dept here, END OF STORY

No, it was well under 500.00. Like 130.00

I can see where 130.00 may not warrant an all out Federal Investigation to them. But should be simple to just get the cashed MO back. And see who cashed it and at what Bank. I am sure no Bank is dumb enough in todays world to just cash a MO with no account or ID. PO will not cash a MO without a ID either..

But if they let any amount go. It is just asking for more widespread fraud to happen.

They are replacing the MO. But could care less who stole it. I wander if they already know it was stolen by a Employee and cashed. And do not want that fact out there.

Not gun specific, But for years I took the dog and we walked up to the Mailbox on the corner. That is until I find I have "6" Bills that never made it to where they were mailed to. After the late charges and the "Stop Payment Fees", I am out a considerable sum of money. I call the PO to report the obvious "Mail Theft" and actually spoke to someone who was supposed to be "In Charge"...They told me to file a report at the PO that handles that Mail Box. So I did. Guess What.... The Mail Box Was Removed. There That will teach you to complain.

Now was this an Assault Money Order? I'm not tracking why this is even in a gun forum.
