    is the ar maglock truly non obvious?

    i was reading up on what it takes to have a patent on something

    and one of the requirements is that it be "not obvious" now the first thing i thought of when the law came out was we just need a magazine release with a finger that contacts the upper

    i do agree that they should be able to patent their finger as it is swept back so the upper does not have to open as much and does not interfere with the ejection port cover

    but should their patent bar the making of any magazine release that contacts the upper ?

    it just seems like it is far too broad and instead of patenting a product they are patenting an idea

      There are other similar products. As mentioned, they have a different shape.
