How to Own a Gun & Stay Out of Jail Machtinger

Anyone have a copy of this book? I was wondering if it's a "worth buying" or just another way of getting our money. Maybe someone might want to loan it to me if I pay shipping both ways and promise to return it in a timely maner? Have to ask.
    Thanks

It is a good book to own -- depending on your library you may have the info in other places, and some is common sense. But to have it all together in one compresensive legal guide it's worth it to have it on your shelf. You will want to refer to it over time so I recommend buying a copy...

      Its pretty good,

it does tend to err on the side of caution, and it is not up to date on the latest EBR law...

needs to be revised to be relevent to the stuff we run into today IMHO.

i bougt one a couple years back and at the time it was my only source for ca gunlaws...(didnt know about calguns yet) if you learn only one thing out of that book that keeps you legal and out of trouble then its worth the dough...

          Highly recommend the book...

I buy a new edition each year and read it thoroughly. Since the court cases for actual prosecutions are listed at the end of each chapter, you can look up the details of the cases.

Any family or friend who tells me they are thinking of getting into guns receives a copy from me. Yes, the book is very cautious, but, I like that when just starting in a sport that if I make a mistake, I go to jail or prison.

Be sure not to buy it from Amazon. Not sure why, but all the prices on Amazon for this one book are always 2X or more the price at any gun store.

Not the be all end all but a great place to start. Read it and supplement with info from calguns and you're good to go. Pick it up at a gunshop or buy direct from the author.

Instructors at the Riverside Sheriff's Academy (Clark Training Center), recommend that book as a "must buy" for the LE recruits being trained there.

Sportsmen's Supply in Campbell on Camden Ave had it a while back for around 10 bucks.
I loaned my copy to a guy at work who then loaned it to someone else who again passed it to another person. That was a year ago, so who knows where it is now.

Thanks for all the input guys. I guess thats it's a "must have" book so I"ll go ahead and buy it. Now if I can just find it for less than $35. I like the $10 figure.
