What does the ffl say about disposition of the firearm. Did owner get it back or was it surrendered to the cops.

      This.
If you have the DROS form then you went to an FFL with the seller or he shipped it to your FFL.
If you did not pick it up within 30 days, it would have been returned to the seller or sent to the PD.
Contact the FFL, find out what they did with it after the 30 days were up. If you're lucky, they still have it and you can Re-DROS it. 2nd best, they returned it to the seller and he still has it... if so, then simply transfer it again, as you paid for it.
If he sold it to someone else, then he owes you the purchase price.

If the FFL turned it over to the PD, if they still have it, you can probably get it, otherwise you're SOL.

Hopefully you also sent him a PM.

Seller not likely to look at the sale thread this much later.

Good luck and please give an update.

If you paid seller and he shipped/took it to a FFL he fulfilled his obligation of the sale.

At this point you can check with the FFL to see if they still have it or where they sent it after 30 days.

Once you find out where the gun went you can try and contact them for next steps. Ideally you can get the gun back but I suspect any filing or shipping fees to complete the transaction will be at your expense......as seller and FFL (if they did relinquish the gun after 30 days) have done their parts.

If the original seller did get the gun returned to him....it will be up to you two to FIO

My first purchase on Calguns was from Denis (ImOverHere) and he was a stand up guy. I would check with the FFL first to see what happened to the rifle.

                              This.
PM the seller, but FIRST CONTACT THE FFL AND FIND OUT WHAT THEY DID WITH IT AT THE END OF 30 DAYS!

If it's still in the FFL's safe or they turned it over to the PD, there is no reason to bother the seller at all.
There is NO reason in this situation to bother others who have bought from the seller.
