Anyone shooting 17 mach 2?. I picked up one in deal new in box. Stainless steel with laminated stock and may keep or not. t is a savage MK2 with scope mount

It looked like a cool little cartridge when it came out . I almost bought a 17hm2 barrel fir a 10/22 I have ... but the ammo price was high and it was already on its way out. The 22lr is just so dam cheap comparatively and is close enough balisticly. Kinda the same issue with the 17 win mag it’s a hot cartridge but not that much different than the original hmr

I have never seen any M2 on the selves.

If anyone still made large amounts of ammo for it, I would have a few. Fun little round, but it's very scarce.

Ammo is available, but it's usually a once a year run for CCI and can sell out quick once posted, because as a varmint cartridge, guys can burn through a lot in a few good days hunting. It's an under-rated cartridge for varmints IMHO. In CA, it's gonna be the *****s Soon due to the damn non-toxic ammo requirements coming up. Non-lead was available at one time, but not anymore for it. Only the v-max available anymore.
Probably better off with an HMR nowadays.

17HM2

I had my LH Rem 581 rebarreled to the HM2 with a Shilen barrel.
I love it! At ~2100 fps, it’s a relative laser to 100 yards compared
to the rainbow trajectory of my .22lr’s. Accuracy is excellent.

As mentioned, ammo was scarce recently...along with all the other
rimfire varieties at the time. I just put my email on all the sites
that allowed notifications & never had a problem getting some. It
is more costly than .22lr though.

It’s a fun round to shoot with a bolt action rifle.

I used to see it pretty often next to .17 HMR, but these last few years it seems like .17 HMR has really overtaken M2
