Just installed my night stand safe

I like the comfort of sleeping with a gun in my nightstand, but I often have kids running around in my house. The other day Turners put this safe on sale for $69, so I picked it up.

It fit perfect in my top nightstand self. I took the shelf out and drilled 4 holes in the right spots. I then put the shelf back in and screwed the safe in place. So basically it's stuck in there. The shelf can not come out with the safe screwed to it.

For $69 I think it's a good deal. It has 4 electronic push buttons on top. I can get it open very quickly and the door is spring loaded. If I ever do need to grab it in the night I have a very good alarm system so I expect to have a warning. But with kids in the house I really have no choice.

Wanted to post in case someone else was considering the same type of setup.

Nice find! I ordered the 2000 deluxe model from Cabela's a few months back, and I love it!

      Looks great!

I have one like that I bought about 10 years ago. I keep my go to gun there as well. The 4 digit buttons can be programmed with a 6 digit code. Mine is a GunVault model with shelf.

Nice! What brand is it? I'm in the market for a pistol safe for my XD-9 Tactical.

Here is the ad. The gunvault ones are nicer, but it was a little too big for where I wanted to put it.

GunVault makes different model/sizes. I have the Multi:

              Nice

Not trying to give you a hard time, But if your not home what will prevent someone from walking off with the whole nightstand...

I'm going to buy the same one from turners. But looking for any ideas on how to secure the nightstand

I believe costco carries the gunvault brand. They call it Quickvault, so I don't know if it's the same.

I suppose I could bolt the nightstand to the floor. Maybe come from under the floor up into it. I have a crawl space and hardwood floors though. If you're on concrete that could be difficult.

But because of my alarm system I'm not really worried about someone walking off with the nightstand. Even if that did happen, I would just replace the nightstand and the gun. I'm only going to keep a glock or XD in it anyways. It wouldn't be the end of the world.

But also I would never have any type of safes in my house at all without a good security system. Without a security system I would be afraid that the BG would just break into the safe and take everything. I have yet to come across a safe that could not be broken into with the tools I keep in my garage and some time. With sirens going off that you can hear 5 blocks away that is really going to speed a burglar up (assuming he still decided to try to take something).

For me, a safe without a security system is a very risky practice. But with both I feel very safe.
BTW, I installed my own security system. It's a top of the line industrial system that I bought and installed for under $1000. I'm talking about motions sensors, battery backups, phone line hook-ups, wireless key fobs, smoke detectors, etc...
If anyone is interested or has questions on how I did it I'd be more than happy to chat, just PM me.
