My CA DFG Protest hunt to Kansas!

I know I've been quite vocal about the Condor Craziness and the absolute insanity of making one of my great enjoyments, varmint shooting, totally impractical in my home state. I vowed to spend my money elsewhere, and now I will do so.

I am in negotiations with an enterprise in West Kansas that seems to be just the ticket. I can park my RV on their land, use their electricity, ride my ATV on the property, camp for free, and shoot all the rodents I like, with lead ammo, all day long, without any possibility of being molested by DFG.

I have estimated the cost, including non-resident hunting license, and I will be far better off spending my money in Kansas that would have otherwise been spent here in the PRK. I intend to stop and buy all my ammo, food and other supplies on the way so as the PRK doesn't even get sales tax out of me. I'm planning on leaving with just enough fuel to make the Stateline, so they don't get that tax either. If I see any good deals on pistol ammo or ither stuff along the way, I'll stock up! Heck, I'm going to spend all my vacation money out of state, all over this Condor lead-ban lunacy.

The folks in Kansas are nice, still live in the free world, and they deserve my hard-earned cash far more than the self-serving tree huggers and wanna-be cops at DFG.

PS: There are also Coyote and Jackrabbit hunts, as well as Pheasant and Deer later in the year......

I know, but it makes me feel better. Besides, it's a good excuse to go to the free world and recon for a place to move to eventually.

If enough of us (thousands) just quit hunting in the PRK altogether, but still shot targets and went plinking it would make a point to DFG, I'm sure. It's all about the money.

Just turn in your guns also, that'd be a nice little protest

Leaving for KS in a few days my self. If you have ammo take it with you... I understand ammo can be a little difficult to find in KS as well as CA at this time. . I ordered some on line and had it delivered to KS. There are several places, in KS, with some nice little “sporting” rifles available… of the kind you should not have in CA. But good for varmints of all kinds.

there is a difference in paying the state to hunt and pay more for ammo than just giving my guns up.

I haven't been hunting in years, and I have not been following this condor lead ban crap. What fees do you have to pay to hunt, other than your hunting license? Or do you mean just paying extra for lead free ammo? And it just seems that whoever is heading up this lead ban, probably doesn't want people to hunt anyways, so by us giving up on hunting, they win.

licence, tags and the added costs of ammo. with the current crisis in california, hunting fees will go up. there isn't anything good here to hunt anyways. arizona, colorado, utah all have better hunting and less the crap to put up with. california don't want you to hunt here, fine by me, i will give my money to a better state. i would love to see the animal population grow here in california and i think a small protest would let that happen. imagine if nobody was to hunt in california for 3-5 years, deer would be bigger and more of them. as for them winning, you bet they have already won.

Having never hunted here, but having toyed with the idea in the past, the ban on lead ammo pretty much nipped that idea in the bud. I just hunt in Missouri when we go back to visit my folks during Thanksgiving break.

Besides, the venison back there tastes better, I'd bet. Out here it probably tastes strongly of sage.

Who can afford to hunt in this state anymore anyway?
Used to go up north to Porterville and hunt doves every year but, $38.85 for a hunting license and $7.90 for an upland game bird stamp along with all the other expenses isn't worth it for a couple days of hunting.
What my computer can't handle, my rifle does nicely.
