VP9 - Shield - G19

Have you considered the Walther PPQ? I have a VP9 and a PPQ and I much prefer the PPQ. Like Two Nuggets, I find the VP9 pinches my trigger finger.

The other advantage of the PPQ (over the Glock) is that you can get a factory threaded barrel model. Now that I live in a free state, all new pistols I buy will have threaded barrels.

I didn't find the 2.0 shield worth the upgrade and a few articles comparing the two didn't either. Personally not a fan of the stippling on the shield 2.0, it's a CCW gun so why would you want that rough texture against your skin? For my full sized the 2.0 longslide it's amazing. Hands down my favorite gun for but CCW, no way. It's a well balanced beast, grip is pretty rough though.

I guess you could always sand it but at the end of the day I'd probably just stay with your 1.0 and spend some money upgrading it. I love mine, i deleted the LCI and removed the mag disco, added TFX sights and threw an Apex trigger in it.

Night sights are great if you plan on using it in the dusk or at night. Honestly with exception of a CCW gun or nighstand gun it's pretty useless. I'm a huge TFX for the best of both worlds, I have them in all my guns so it's also for consistently.

Gen 5 is a polished turd IMO, a Gen 3 with a grip reduction is better but that's up to you. In a free state it isnt that much more expensive. I think if you want a G19 that fits your hand just get a P10c. Mine is my 2nd favorite gun right behind my 2.0 5" P10c handles like a dream and in a free state its cheaper than a Glock.

Congrats on the VP9, I would agree with platform synergy... it's really easy to improve on your Handgun basics when you share the platform, just my 2 cents. Enjoy!

Have you ever had failed to cycle with the VP9 and 115 gr?

Took mine to the range today for the first test run and every single one failed to cycle. Stopped after 10 or 15 rounds. Called H&K per the range master’s suggestion and they said it’s meant to be used with 124 gr, not 115. Read online this is a common issue but some are telling me it’s not and the gun might be defective.

As for my shield I actually like it a lot. I’ll admit I’ve never cc before but that’s because I lived I CA. Now that I’m in AZ I’d like to. Just need to decide if I want to use my shield, or buy a G19 or MP 2.0 Compact for ccw.

Most Military / police service pistols are designed to run the 9mm NATO round which is 124 grain. The ammo industry uses something called SAAMI Standards to establish the pressures that ammo should be loaded to. The SAAMI pressure for 9mm Luger ammo is around 35,000 PSI, and C.I.P (think European SAAMI) rates 9mm Luger ammo at 34,080 PSI. According to documentation, the 9mm NATO rounds are pressured at 36,500 PSI (again according to CIP). That means that when compared to standard 9mm ammo, the 9mm NATO ammo is running a higher pressure, analogous to a 9mm +P load, which SAAMI rates around 36,000 PSI.

I own several VP9'stwo of which Iactually use the others NIB safe queens. I hacve a combines 35000 to 40,000 rounds thru the two guns WITHOUT A SINGLE malfunction. The vast majority of ammo down the tube is 115gr FM ( Winchester WB, Federal brass), some Winchester NATO, PMC 124 gr FMJ, and AE 147gr FMJ flat tip. Again, both VP9's ate it all.

Did you disassemble the pistol before you shot it? Put recoil spring in backwards? Put recoil spring in not properly aligned?

Are you sure you put the recoil spring in correctly and aligned it properly? Were you running "New manufacture" 115 gr from a major ammunition manufacturer? No reloads?

I never ever shoot reloads of any kind! I have two friends who have had problems with Freedom reloads in ther G34's.

You own an HK but shoot reloads?
