Herp Derp that never gets old! Better make your notifications! And hope DOJ does not actually monitor this site!

Penal Code 25250. (a) Commencing July 1, 2017, every person shall report the loss or theft of a firearm he or she owns or possesses to a local law enforcement agency in the jurisdiction in which the theft or loss occurred within five days of the time he or she knew or reasonably should have known that the firearm had been stolen or lost.
      (b) Every person who has reported a firearm lost or stolen under subdivision (a) shall notify the local law enforcement agency in the jurisdiction in which the theft or loss occurred within five days if the firearm is subsequently recovered by the person.

Someone is going to get caught up in the silly "boating accident" fantasy.

I can already see the thread title:

"I NEED RECOMMENDATIONS FOR A SITUATION"...

"I was pulled over for a burned-out brake (it would be misspelled as 'break' ) light, and the cop saw my (insert gun here) in the back of my SUV...

you only have to report incidents occurring after the July 2017 date. if his boat sank before that date then np

if they are at the bottom of the lake or river then they are not lost because you know where they are. (LOL). You just have to hope the fish don't eat them. or maybe you were on vacation in Bayou country when you lost them and you can give them the location and the sheriff can go diving for them with the alligators. Something tells me the Louisiana sheriff is going to tell the california sheriff to go dive for himself if he wants confirmation.

I sure hope the fish are not minors.

Do you mean to say that guns dropped overboard before July 2017 will float? :
