Pelican Cases - Replacement Foam

Hi y'all,
Recently ordered a new stock for my Tikka T3X rifle where I use a Pelican 1750 to transport the rifle. The new stock requires = new foam needed, particularly the middle foam.

Now with the Pelican 1750 coming with solid foam pieces on all three levels, I'm thinking about taking the existing top (lid) foam and making it the middle. Then just buying an eggshell (convulated) foam piece and use for the top (lid) foam. So for the folks with the eggshell top, did you have any experience with this procedure....basically repurposing my existing top foam as the middle or did any issues with an aftermarket eggshell foam come up?

When it comes to firearms...

Closed Cell Foam > Open Cell Foam (the eggshell top)

Closed cell doesn't hold moisture like open cell can. Alternatively, you could find a soft case that fits inside the Pelican. That way you can leave the heavy, bulky pelican behind in the hotel when you get to your destination.
