LOL, outfits like Secret Service want that kind of penetration. They carried extremely penetrative 9mm just for that purpose. They are instructed to shoot the bad guy any way they can - if someone is in their way they are to shoot through them.

Although the Rattler is an interesting niche weapon in .300BLK, it has way too much potential for over penetration and is not ideal for close protection work. You have to take into consideration there will be crowds of people standing around and behind any threats you might have to engage with that weapon. The MP7 with the 31gr Brown Tip does 16-17" in gel, which is ideal and does not overpenetrate. It's also very controllable on full auto and you can dump a lot of rounds into a target quickly with it.

The 9mm ammo that Secret Service carries can certainly drill body armor. At least any soft armor.

In late-2010s, they adopted KAC SR16 and carry them in their Fast Action Gun bags, but a few of them are still concealed carrying MP5s (under their coats).

That's what the Army intends to use these 9mm subguns for, because concealable 9mm subgun is still better than a 9mm handgun.

On body conceal carry of 9mm subgun with off-body carry of 5.56mm carbines in discret bags.

Secret Service should have just went with the MP7 if they needed a small, concealable PDW. The 4.6x30 Brown Tip ammo can actually penetrate body armor unlike 9mm and has decent terminal performance.
