“Down-selected” ?? Do they need to make up words for everything?
I wonder if the army will actually choose something or if like so many previous programs, the deciding comittee is just looking for bribes and hand outs and then will simply cancel the program as usual. I wonder is some manufacturers are salivating and rushing to get prototypes ready and how many are aging “ oh these guys again”

US Army Selects 6 Companies for Sub Compact Weapon Programme
Deja vu? Not quite. The US Army has announced the companies which have been down-selected for the Sub Compact Weapon programme. Six of the companies which responded to the Army's Prototype Opportunity Notice have been selected for testing and evaluation and there are some surprising absences.
Hey folks, you may remember me from such threads as
RUN! They making new guns!
RUN! They putting optics on guns!
Well it seems the Old Army boys are back in the market for a PCC and I'm all excited.

I have shot quite a few sub guns rather extensively.
as a matter of fact i have shot a few DOD/ state dept owned sub guns...
colt smg
mp5
uzi full size
uzi min
uzi micro
sterling
a few others as well.
the cz is a good gun however lets be honest its the ARMY they don't like change or diffetent things...
as fir the MPX while there have been plenty issues which i will not deny or excuse but thats par for the course with any completely new designed system.
Mines been ran pretty hard, and like plenty others I mudt be lucky so far.
By no means i was looking to bash any others but these trials are pretty predictable and often the "best" is not chosen.
Look at the ol m16 procurement and trials.... plenty if testing was done and changes were made in combat on the ground...Leave a comment:

How hard do you use your mpx? If all you do is shoot from a bench at a public range you are not really stressing the gun. I have yet to see a space gun crumble in the field but the mpx is riddled with complaints. Even if it was a reliable gun what exactly does it bring to the table that makes it stand out so much? It is a reinvention of the ar9 with the advantage of having a smaller footprint. That footprint is there at the cost of a completely proprietary gun with almost zero compatability with an ar9 or ar15. When most manufacturers are using simple blowback systems the mpx uses a complicated gas system that is typical of germans overcomplicating a simple product. It is not as good suppressed (a factor you will not know) and does gas the user.the B&T is really cool and made like a swiss watch however its probably too expensive for the army.
the CZ space cadet rifle wont fly as its not domestically made and is too different... this is the Army we are taling about.
I really wouldnt be surprised to see the MPX win or one of the AR9 options but the MPX blows them away. Even with the early issues with the MPX its def been improved and is my fav gun right now mine Gen2 hasmt had a single issue.
However in the end they could just stick with the old MP5 that they still have plenty of just buy a few more to replace the worm out ones if they even do get "worn out".
This is Big Army and they dont like much in the world of change
How many rounds have you put through your mpx and how many have you put through other subguns? Was it all at heavily controlled ranges?Leave a comment:

They wouldn't have started this process if they were satisfied with the MP5.
As for not being American made, all of these companies know that requirement. They wouldn't submit anything without a plan for a U.S. plant in case they won.Leave a comment:

The MPX is esentially a AR 9mm piston gun,
Not too many PCC out there built like UZI's any more.Leave a comment:

I have. They are nothing special and they do break. Even simple stuff like charging handles shearing apart.
I really wanted to like it but I just cannot. I would put it far down on the list of subguns.Leave a comment:
