    Public Ranges Near Menifee?

Greetings all! Having been a Calguns member for awhile, I finally moved from the East Coast to Menifee earlier this month. While I am extremely happy to be here, it has been very difficult to find a public shooting range nearby. I don't get to shoot often, so it doesn't make sense to spend the $$$ for a rod/gun club or private range membership. I have visited Lytle Creek, but it is very far, and I understand that the range in Cleveland National Forest has been closed for some time. I'm not looking for a tricked-out facility either...just a place to occasionally shoot out to 100-ish yards. A secluded spot in the middle of the desert would equally suffice, so just curious where other casual shooters like to go. Many thanks!

Call Rainbow first, I heard they may have stopped accepting new members.

I really enjoy Rainbow and have a bunch of good friends who are also members.

Many thanks. It looks like Rainbow is taking new members, but I'd still prefer to find a public range. Just can't see paying $210 a year plus NRA membership just to go shoot a dozen times. Rainbow will likely be my first choice if I have to go that route, but still looking elsewhere. Slim pickings as you well know!

Pala long range about 35min south of you. Out to 900yards about $30 a visit without membership.
The Pala Shooting Range is only open to the public on Mondays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

EDIT: I guess they finally redid their website now too. And entry went up to $35.

Going south, there is Iron Sights in Oceanside. A bit further down 15 is Poway shooting range (don't remember what it's called). Up north, there is Magnum in Riverside and I believe a few more indoor ranges.

Super...thanks for all the great recommendations! I need a 100-yd range, so it looks like Pala is the best bet even though it's only open on Mondays and Fridays for recreational shooting. Much appreciated!

just saw them, wow those memberships are a joke.
Didnt expect much from that place any way.

They have "general public" membership that looks pretty standard...

I'm not a fan of that place either. Not going back there after my last bad ppt experience there.

Are you referring to Pala? If so, can you please expound on your bad experience? Would prefer to avoid going thru something similar. Thanks.

Not Pala - Pala is an outdoor shooting range without any facilities and he couldn't have done PPT there. He is talking about the San Marcos place.

Poway Weapons and Gear is new, clean, and modern. They even have 50 and 100 yard options - all indoors. All the employee's that I have interacted with were professional and helpful. Highly recommend this for your indoor range option.
